scenario by adding pros and cons that reflect the different ethics and perspectives involved.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Example claims:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>PRO<\/strong> &ndash; The parent has a duty to feed their children.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>PRO<\/strong> &ndash; Some jurisdictions allow necessity defences.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>CON<\/strong> &ndash; The shopkeeper may fear copy-cat thefts.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>CON<\/strong> &ndash; The costs of theft are often passed on to other customers through higher prices.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Identify the themes represented by the scenario, e.g., survival, the law, duty, sacrifice, resource scarcity.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Divide students into groups and allocate each group one of the following scenarios.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Groups will apply the above steps to their allocated scenario.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><ul><li><a present a summary of their exploration to the class and explain the themes they&rsquo;ve chosen.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a class, list any themes that apply to all of the scenarios.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Students should then generalize by thinking of a further scenario that would also relate to the identified themes.
